1XI vs Wirral at Home:
Vale's 1XI hosted Wirral for a 12:30pm start at Priory Street. On a wet outfield, Vale captain Alex Power won the toss and chose to bowl first. Tom Ollier and Nigel Halsall kept it tight, with the latter removing McCormack for 0, thanks to a brilliant catch by Louis Power. Halsall then quickly dismissed Hackett for 6, given LBW. Abid and Lewis rebuilt well for Wirral, punishing the bad balls and defending the good ones. Halsall removed Lewis for 21, and Tom Ollier got Hussain out, caught by Louis Power for 19. Nomaan Hasan took the wicket of Ghulam, making it 66-5 for Wirral. Hasan then removed Abid for 30, adjudged LBW, with the score at 91-6. Muise made a quick 17 before Hasan got him out, and Jack Halsall took the last two wickets of Fotheringham and Cureton, bowling Wirral out for 106.
After tea, the Power brothers opened the batting for Vale. Alex was bowled out for 0 by Abid after just three balls. Louis Power and Jack Halsall attempted to rebuild, taking the score to 19-2 before Power was removed LBW by Abid for 5. Ben Langley joined Halsall at the crease but struggled initially. Halsall was bowled by Muise for 25, and John Ollier was controversially given out caught behind for 0, leaving Vale at 43-4. Hasan hit a few nice shots before falling for 11. Langley, joined by Robinson, looked positive but was removed by Cureton for 11, leaving Vale at 69-6, needing 38 more to win with four wickets remaining.
Pankaj Meshram tried to hold up an end while Langley tried to get Vale closer to the target. Meshram was stumped for 4, making it 94-7. Langley and Pete Phillips focused on singles and twos, needing 13 more runs with plenty of overs left. They played out Abid and ticked the score down until Callanan came on. Langley, trying to see out the over, was bowled for 37 with Vale needing five more to win. Tom Ollier attempted a sweep to the boundary, but was caught for 0, leaving Vale needing four runs with one wicket left. Nigel Halsall joined Phillips, and in a tense finish, they both looked solid and ran quickly, securing the win for Vale by one wicket.
2XI vs Timperley away:
Vale's 2XI made the trip around the corner to Timperley. Timperley won the toss and decided to field first. Vale started well, with Ian Johnson scoring 33 and Vishal Gupta adding 44 before Johnson was bowled by Tharroismani and Gupta was run out. Tharroismani also removed Bottomley for 2, while Pete Williamson was run out for 27. Rana Dey contributed a solid 30 not out, helping Vale finish on 174-5 off their 40 overs.
In their run chase, Timperley began strongly until Trivedi removed Carr for 19. Tom Halsall then dismissed Godhamgaonkar for 3, and Gupta took the wicket of Maharajan for 29. Jason Coad scored a well-made 42 before being removed by Gupta, but Muzaffer and Fisher guided Timperley to victory with four balls to spare. Vale's 2XI lost by six wickets.
