Vale travelled to Holmes chapel with a much-changed team. In beautiful sunshine captain Johnson lost the toss and Vale were put in to bat. Mike Drape and Pete Williamson opened and started well with Mike taking10 runs from the first over. After 8 overs Vale had scored 32 before Willow edged behind off Mitchell for 8. Dr Dwai joined Mike and the runs continued to flow until Papa D dragged on a ball from spinner Grundy for a well-made 29 leaving Vale 70-2. It was soon 72-3 as John Greening was adjudged LBW for 0. New boy Matt Jones showed promise as hit a 4 and a 6 off successive balls before eventually being bowled by 14 year old Noah Wasilowski for 13 at 88. Captain Johnson helped Doc push the scored to 128 before top edging Clyde to Mitchell for 18.That triggered the world-famous Vale collapse as Diddy Damo Paul 2 was caught and bowled by Clyde, Josh Woolfstein was bowled by Mitchell for 0 and Max Lloyd 0 was bowled by Clyde. Dwai's good innings finished at 47 when he was bowled and Babu Jally was caught behind for 2 leaving Vale bowled out for a disappointing 139.
With Diddy Damo unable to bowl, Max and Babu opened the bowling. Max was back to his best keeping things tight and Babu found extra pace. In the sixth over Radford edged Babu to Max who took a fine catch at slip. Two balls later he bowled Waters sparking wild celebrations from the bowler. At 14-2 Vale had a sniff but Birks and that boy Noah started to bat well. At 43 Birks top edged a sweep off Lord Stacey and Mike took a great catch over his shoulder. Vale battled hard and eventually had Logan caught behind off his lordship for 13 leaving Holmes chapel 80-4. At 96 Mike took another decent catch this time off his own bowling to remove Whitmore for 4 but within 3 overs Vale let it slip seeing the score rocket to 138-5. Kid Wozza brought up an excellent 50. Max still had time to bowl Riley for 31 before Holmes chapel saw it through for a four-wicket win. Graeme 2-27, Babu 2-45, Max 1-9 off 6, Mike 1-21. A game of 4 halves. A valiant effort.
