April showers might bring May flowers, but for cricket enthusiasts at Bowdon Vale Cricket Club, they also bring a fair share of challenges. Unfortunately, like many clubs in the region, our ground has succumbed to the relentless rain, rendering it waterlogged and unfit for play or training. As a result, both the 1st and 2nd XI matches scheduled for this Saturday have been canceled.
However, cricket never stops at Bowdon Vale Cricket Club. Despite the weather's best efforts to dampen our spirits, we're adapting and moving forward. For our senior members, indoor nets have been booked at Lymm Leisure Centre from 1-3pm this Saturday. It's a great opportunity to shake off the rust and fine-tune your skills before the ground is ready for play. Plus, there's an added incentive to stick around: the Club's bar will be open from 4:30pm onwards, providing the perfect setting to catch up and socialize with fellow members.
Speaking of the ground, there's hope on the horizon. Barring any further downpours, we anticipate that the ground will be fit for senior cricket by Saturday, May 11th. Of course, we're keeping a close eye on the weather forecasts and will keep everyone updated if there are any changes.
For our budding young cricketers, we've made some adjustments to the schedule as well. The All Stars and Dynamos program, initially slated to kick off on May 4th, has been pushed back by a week and will now commence on May 11th. It's a slight delay, but we're confident it'll be worth the wait.
Additionally, junior outdoor training is set to begin on Tuesday, May 7th, following its rescheduling from the Bank Holiday. It's an exciting time for our young talents, and we can't wait to see them back on the field honing their skills. The action kicks off with our Under 11s' first home match on the same evening, promising an electrifying start to the season.
Despite the setbacks brought about by the unpredictable weather, the spirit of cricket remains undiminished at Bowdon Vale Cricket Club. We're resilient, adaptable, and united in our love for the game. So, as we navigate through these April showers, let's keep our eyes on the horizon and our bats at the ready. The cricket season is just around the corner, and we're ready to make it one to remember.
